S&P 500 Faces Downside Potential, HK Stocks Indices Weakened

U.S. Stocks 

Fundamental Analysis: 

The S&P 500 has a downside potential of 6.2% in the full outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine crisis, and a 5.6% upside potential if it cools. Based on Friday’s close, an escalating military standoff on the Ukrainian border is expected to carry a 9% risk premium. The premium could rise if risks intensify further and shift to direct conflict coupled with punitive sanctions.

Technical Analysis: 

(Dow 30, 1-hour chart) 

Execution Insight: 

The Dow is focused on the suppression of the 33811-line today. If the Dow runs steadily below the 33811-line, it will pay attention to the support of the 33390 and 33233 positions. If the Dow breaks above the 33811-line, it will pay attention to the suppression of the 34477-line.

Hong Kong Stocks 

Fundamental Analysis: 

The three major indices of Hong Kong stocks weakened again.

The Hang Seng Index (HSI) plunged by 2.95% to 23,456 points at noon, with a turnover of HK$80.1 billion, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) fell by 2.88%, and the Hang Seng TECH Index (HSTECH) fell by 3.04%, with Hong Kong Southward Funds Inflow buying at HK$858 million.

Industry sectors across the board were green. Gas stocks led the decline with Tian Lun Gas Holdings Limited (1600.HK) falling by 25%.

Whereas, power industry stocks tumbled ahead of the elimination of the green electricity concept, topping the list among all falling stocks. With this, Xinte Energy Co., Ltd. (1799.HK) fell by 8%.

Auto industry stocks plunged, with Great Wall Motor Company Limited (2333.HK) falling by 7%.

SaaS stocks fell across the board, with Weimob Inc. (2013.HK) falling by 8% again, hitting a new low. At the same time, industries stocks including sporting goods, online education, lithium battery, and traditional Chinese medicine are among top decliners.

Technology stocks generally plunged, with Meituan (3690.HK) down by nearly 6%, and Alibaba Health Information Technology Limited (0241.HK) down by nearly 5%. In addition, BYD Electronic (International) Company Limited (0285.HK), Kingsoft Corporation Limited (3888.HK), AAC Technologies Holdings Inc. (2018.HK), JD.com, Inc. (9618.HK) were down by more than 4%, while Alibaba Group Holding Limited (9988.HK) was down by nearly 4%.

Execution Insight: 

HK50 Index focuses on the 23294-line today. If HK50 can run stably above the 23294-line, then pay attention to the suppression strength of the two positions of 23818 and 24469. If the HK50 strength breaks below the 23294-line, then pay attention to the support strength of the 22785-line.

FTSE China A50 Index 

Technical Analysis:

Execution Insight: 

HK50 Index focuses on the 23294-line today. If HK50 can run stably above the 23294-line, then pay attention to the suppression strength of the two positions of 23818 and 24469. If the HK50 strength breaks below the 23294-line, then pay attention to the support strength of the 22785-line.
